hen houses – Now Chicken House Plans to Take Your Hen House on the Road – Mobility Feature
Filed under GeneralJul 11When it comes right down to it, just about all chicken coops serve the same purpose with the same basic parts. Probably the biggest differences will be the overall dimensions (large chicken coop versus small chicken coop) and some other notable features, such as whether the chicken house is movable.
In our chicken farm raising days, all of our chicken houses were immobile. Sure, we could pull out the old John Deere and give the old hen house a push, but they were not built to be moved.
Nowadays, newer hen houses are built with the distinct feature of mobility. This is true especially for the city chicken raising folks with a backyard chicken coop. In one of our designs, we specifically encourage the construction of the chicken house using one inch to two inch zip screws so they can be easily removed and the chicken house moved.
Mobile chicken houses, sometimes called tractors, do have some unusual rewards. If they are build without a floor, the hens can eat all sorts of food located in the grasses where the mobile chicken coop is located. Much like your grazing sheep, you can rotate them through your field, or even with a small backyard chicken house, all around your yard. Simply rotate your hen house for fresh food, and the chickens are still fully secure, free from dangerous predators.
You don’t have to give up any of the design features of your standard chicken coop. They all include perches, nesting boxes, and a play or run area. Obviously you can add any number of optional features, much like your modern car. No, I don’t mean the chicken house gets a new DVD player, but you may opt to include automatic feeders, automated cleaning systems, and there are chicken house plans that include automatic egg collection.
